This would not have been expected of the asymmetrical survival horror multiplayer game, after all, the background of the characters probably play no role for many players. Since 2019, however, the developer has been trying to give the characters background stories about the in-game archive about the in-game archive. Now their sexual orientations have not really played a role, in the case of David King that has recently changed.

King is one of the most popular characters in Dead by Daylight. He is currently one of the top 10 most played survivors. This could also have contributed to the fact that Behaviour decided to come out as a gay. The developers have probably been able to imagine that this is not only praised before the announcement. Some Reddit users simply question why Behaviour chose David King, from now on to represent the homosexuals in Dead by Daylight. "Didn't David have a friend in the Lore? "As a gay man and someone who mainly plays David, I think that's great," writes one player. He didn't care that the character was not originally designed as part of the "LGBTQIA2+" community, since a sexual orientation was defined for almost no figure in Dead by Daylight.

Own opinion

The fact that Behaviour Interactive from David King makes a homosexual person with an update is absolutely no problem in view of how irrelevant his sexual orientation has so far been in the lore. On the contrary: that the developers even select a character that does not correspond to the cliché image of gays purely externally. This is how you create awareness!
